Local News and Events

North Weald Market takes place a stone’s throw from our service centre and takes place mainly through the summer months. The market is a mix of professional stall holders and car boot sellers that offer a wide range of items for sale. You can find everything from green grocers through to clothing and household goods.

Situated at North Weald Airfield just off of the M11 it is ideally located and easy to get to. Open from 9am until 4pm it is England’s largest regular Saturday and Bank Holiday Monday market. The Airfield itself has historic links to WW1 and holds a number of other events throughout the year, everything from car track days through to the annual Cancer Research Race for Life.

The Popularity of North Weald Airfield

Parking at North Weald is free and the car park can hold several thousand cars so you don’t need to worry about getting in. There are also disabled facilities and parking available. If you don’t drive there is a special bus service from the surrounding area including Harlow and Ongar.

On an average day you could expect to find about 30,000 people in attendance although on particularly busy days we have seen more than double that amount. You would need a whole day to get round all of the stalls and cars to see everything, but if you do fancy adding something a little extra on then the Airfield Museum is open to those wanting a more historical experience.

The Airfield is very flat and tarmacked which again is ideal for disabled visitors or those with prams and buggies as there aren’t any curbs or lots of traffic to worry about.

If you want to find out more about when the markets and North Weald car boot sale takes place then this website has all the information you need, just click here where you can also book a pitch if you want to sell. If you do decide to visit then why not pop by and say hello to the team at Clover Auto’s.
